| This page contains details of my 1978 Jaguar
XJS, which I now realise I will never finish- mainly
because I have two other XJS cars which keep me occupied.
And so it is for sale to a good and caring home. Actually
I'm not really that concerned about how good the home is, I
just need the space.
For Audi parts, other XJS parts, and general stuff see the navigation buttons on the left
of this page. |

Jaguar XJS Coupe, V12 5430cc engine, 1978

This car has been the subject of a 10-year
restoration (prior to me buying it). It is totally sound with no
structural rust whatsoever. Unfortunately the restorer, having done
all the mechanical work very well indeed,, decided to spray it himself. The result was less than
satisfactory. It is painted in cellulose. The front right wing as
shown below needs to be re-done, as does the boot lid. |

First the flattering photographs. These four
photos flatter the paintwork. |

Now the worst of the paintwork. The paint on the front
driver's side wing has crazed and cracked. No solution other than to strip
the wing back to bare metal. |

The bottom corner of the same wing has a tiny rust hole-
8mm diam. or so- which needs welding. There are a few small surface rust
areas to be treated such as the rear wing body seam shown right. |

Three small rust spots have been sanded down to bare metal
to show that it was just surface rust. |

The car is fitted with a typical '70s sunroof |
