Jaguar XJS Headlining Biscuit and Cloth- PICKUP PREFERRED from Dublin, Ireland
This is a used Jaguar XJS (1983 pre-facelift model) headlining "biscuit" or former, plus a new, unmarked and unused 2-metre roll of high quality headlining cloth as supplied by SK Jagtech.
For those of you not familiar with the way the XJS headlining is made up, it comprises a foam-backed cloth stuck to a lightweight former or "biscuit". The original invariably fails when the foam backing material breaks down due to age. It is not possible to re-glue an existing headlining cloth, you must take out the headlining, clean off the old cloth and its foam backing, and fit a completely new headlining cloth. The job is relatively easy to do, the headlining comes out through the passenger door. However it is difficult to remove the old cloth and foam backing without causing some damage to the biscuit.
The biscuit is in good condition as they go, but it is NOT pristine. It is very definitely suitable for recovering with appropriate care and attention to the detail of fitting the new cloth, as described on the SK Jagtech website. If you are familiar with these items, you will know that they are made from a type of fibreglass, without any resin, so they are quite fragile. This lining was carefully removed from the vehicle but it did crease a little during removal, as shown on the photographs. It has been reinforced with fibreglass at weak points around the edges. No bits are missing, and it will be possible to recover this successfully with care, and with the use of the correct high temperature trim adhesive.
The 2-metre roll of headlining cloth is shown on one of the photos, and is exactly as received from SK Jagtech, unopened. This is a high quality headlining cloth with a foam-type backing. It is rolled on a cardboard former. This is the correct quantity to recover the headlining biscuit and to cover the other bits of roof trim- cantrails and quarter panels. The headlining cloth is beige in colour. The details of the headlining cloth and the replacement procedure can be found on the SK Jagtech website at this URL:

The roll of headlining cloth cost approximately £70 including VAT and excluding postage. You will need one can of the recommended high-temperature spray adhesive to secure the cloth to the "biscuit".
If you need to replace your headlining and your existing one has been previously recovered, or damaged, then this is the ideal combination for you.
Due to the size of the item and its fragility, this is preferably a pickup item only from Dublin. The headlining is in a cardboard container measuring 1300mm X 1100mm X 280mm and weighs just a few kilos protected by bubble wrap. I am prepared to send it by courier strictly at your own risk, however transport charges will be high. The estimated cost to a UK address would be approximately £65- £70, exact cost would be as charged to me by the courier with no handling charge and would depend on the delivery addres

The photo on the right shows the front bumper simply placed in front of the car- it doesn't sit quite right because the front air dam is still in place. DSC00778c.JPG (150022 bytes)
